Brenda and Blair McArthur are opening up their doors for an evening program again and look forward to welcoming many guests through their estate.

On December 3 and 4, the first weekend in December, we will need almost 200 volunteers. We hope that YOU can help us make it our Club's biggest fundraising event. Grab your phone and highlight the dates. This year the SignUpGenius App will help make volunteering in your preferred timeslot even easier. Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you

* Good Food Box Program Volunteers Needed
The Good Food Box Program has been supported by our club for about 9 months. We
stepped up when another group of volunteers could no longer help out.

We need consistent volunteers to be available on either the 3rd Tuesday or Wednesday of each month.

We require 2 pairs of volunteers per day, each with a vehicle to transport the boxes.
The boxes weigh about 10 lbs each when full. You could be delivering 5 or 15 boxes.
Timing depends on when the produce truck delivers. Arrive at 10:00 am in Welland, and finish about 1 - 2:00 pm.

Please let me know if you are available. If you are not sure if a monthly commitment is what you are ready to make, come out and see what you think.
We will need spares!

YIR,
Jeannie Manning

There is no experience quite like attending a Rotary International Convention. It’s an opportunity for members to connect personally with people from around the world, celebrate our service, and work together to find solutions for the world’s most pressing challenges.

The 2022 Rotary International Convention will be held in Houston, Texas, USA. Those who can’t make the trip in early June can still experience the convention virtually with links to be provided in the future.

Club Assembly Luncheon Meeting

May 17, 2022
Club Assembly - May 17, 2022

Interim President Greg opened the meeting by acknowledging all First Nation peoples, and the land on which our meeting was being held.  This was followed by a toast to the Queen, Canada, and Rotary.

Being a Club Assembly meeting, Chairs provided a brief update on behalf of their various committees.

On behalf of the Fundraising Committee, Penny highlighted that:
  • The Gigantic Garage Sale raised approximately $15,000 Canadian.  Congratulations team!
  • The Canada Day BBQ is fast approaching, returning to Simcoe Park, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.  This year we will be preparing and serving the full meal BBQ.
  • Icewine Cocktail Party will be on Sept 17
  • Octoberfest is coming (location to be determined)
  • Homes have already been selected for this year’s Holiday House Tour
  • All events are looking for additional volunteers

The Foundation Committee is looking for 2 more people to join the committee.  Joe Will mentioned that club members may expect a friendly call ‘encouraging’ a donation.  The target is $100/member.

Interim President Greg reported that the Board is active and continuing its work.  Some of the top priorities include developing an operating budget for the Club (our fiscal year ends at the end of June), focusing on events that are both fun and will help the community, and filling Board vacancies.  Bill French has already stepped forward to take on the role of Director Public Image.  The Annual Meeting will take place on June 21, with District Governor Lisa Bishop expected to attend.  The annual changeover of the Board will occur on July 5.  And finally, Greg is looking for volunteers for the July 30 Canada Games torch relay.  Twenty-six volunteers are required from our club for this unique, fun event.  Please see the above section of this Weekly Bulletin for further details.
